Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
This visa enables skilled people to live and work continuously in Australia after being nominated by their employer.
With Employer Nomination Scheme Visa you can:
- Australia allows permanent residence.
- In Australia, it is possible to work and study.
- To bring eligible family members to Australia, you must participate in Medicare, Australia's national health insurance programme.
- Australia is a five-year travel destination.
- After four years of residence in Australia, you may petition for citizenship.
There are three streams under Subclass 186.
1) The Direct Entry Stream
For applicants who hold a job on the Subclass 186 Occupations List, have proficient English, are certified in their field of work, and have three years of relevant work experience, there is a separate stream. With this stream, you can apply immediately for Australian permanent residency.

The processing time for this visa will be approximately 13 months..
2) The Labour Agreement Stream
Workers employed by employers who have a labour agreement with the Australian government are eligible for this stream. The Department of Home Affairs, which represents the Australian Government, and employers create labour agreements. You must meet the standards for age, education, and proficiency in English in order to be eligible.

The processing time for this visa will be approximately 11 months.
3) The Temporary Residence Transition Stream
Workers who currently have a Subclass 457 or Subclass 482 visa and are residing in Australia are eligible for this stream. To qualify, you must have maintained continuous support from your employer for the previous three years of employment in the same field. The job has to be on the Subclass 186 Occupations List.

The processing time for this visa will be approximately 14 months.
